The first flower that Greg got for me was a dozen red roses. This was on our One Year anniversary. Accompanied by the beautiful fragrant roses was one silk rose that in the card I receieved was the rose that represents our love for one another. “Our Love will never die as long as this is still vibrant and red,” he scribbled. So when planning for the flowers for the wedding and knowing our colors would be red & white, it was a no brainer that we’d have red roses at the wedding. I want them as my centerpieces, my boquets, and the red rose petals for our flower girl.

Now, the decision comes whether or not to do real roses vs. silk roses. My thoughts are this: Whatever my budget will allow! Since we’re already at a huge portion of our budget in just two vendors, we may have to go with the fake flowers! But I am determined these will still be just as beautiful. One request though: my boquet is to be 100% real!

Here are some ideas I have for my boquets & center pieces. Hopefully I can accomplish these with either fake or real roses! Fake roses will allow much more time to prepare & assemble where as I’ll be doing this as my morning project the day of. Which I’m not sure I want to do just yet.

Another option I thought would be REALLY amazing, and I’m 80% sure I love, are to make paper roses. I saw this image from Creature Comforts (Photo Credit) and instantly fell in love. This would cost me probably under $20-30 dollars for vases & paper. I could find the branches on my own (possibly from our mountain venue location?). I think they’re just so absolutely amazing and beautiful. Plus, I may be over thinking this, anything that I can do by hand just adds such a personal element to our wedding. No?

For those of you who are married, engaged, or otherwise (this question is open to all!) What would you do? Sacrifice your favorite smell in the entire world for your budget or just splurge? I don’t really like the word Splurge, because it implies that this is unnecessary for our wedding (which Future Mother In Law sure does think so), so… thoughts?

I can’t get enough of Polyvore. I’ve started to do sets for the wedding and it’s just so addicting!! I love this little ensemble I put together. Something very casual but put together - which is what I consider my style (outside of work). I think my favorite color this spring/summer was teal, so I incorporated that!

I love these denim capris with the more dressy accessories like the Marc Jacobs clutch. My lust for gladiator sandals have made their way into this set as well! And I like the one contrasting pop of color in the yellow rose ring from Forever21.

When this style started coming back this last spring, I thought people were crazy! I skipped out on the trend, thinking, “Yeah Right. My double wide feet will not fit into any thing like this”. I have yet to buy a pair, or even find a pair that will fit my wide-style feet. I literally have flinstone feet, they’re HUGE!

But now, I can’t get my mind off of these trendy little pieces! I had a pair in my size & width transfered to Nordstrom so I can go and try them on, and I’m praying they DON’T fit so I don’t have to buy them!! I want a pair SO bad, but I am terribly afraid of the fad being over and done with when the leaves start falling.

Do you have a pair of Gladiator style sandals/shoes? I love the creative designs that are coming out for the trend by shoe designers. It’s such a cleaver business!

Sorry it’s been such a long period! Things have been crazy hectic. After moving in and semi-settling down (half of my things are STILL at my fathers house!) with the Fiancee (weird, still not used to saying that!), we had two weddings to attend one of which Greg was in this past weekend. It was great because I got to take five days off work! WOOOOO!

The weddings were amazing. I did the makeup for my cousins wedding. All seven girls looked absolutely phenomenal! I wish I had had time to take pictures of the makeup, but once she gets professional shots back I’ll post!

Then we were headed off to Joe’s wedding, Greg’s best friend since middle school. It was ideally what I’d love to do for my own wedding. Very simple, yet very very classy. There is where we found our DJ. Greg is dead set on him. He’s amazing, and sure as hell worth the $2300 price tag. OUCH! But, it’s funny because while my cousins wedding was amazing and beautiful, their DJ wasn’t as entertaining as this one and there’s a clear difference between a good one and a not-as-good one.

So right now, between the DJ & Photographer I am interested in, we’re already at $5000 for this wedding. We’ll be looking at venues within the next month or two, hopefully finding one for a great price. Our guestlist is currently at about 150, which I’m trying to cut down to 100, 120 tops. We’ll be serving Cocktails & Hor’Durves at the reception.

Nice thing is, the wedding is still just over two years away and I already have so much of this planned. All I’ll have to do is make everything & save the money! Easy as pie.

How is everyone? Do I even have readers anymore? Did anyone notice my site was hacked by some stupid Turkish hacker? Luckly Nikki saved the day (Thanks hun!), but I have no idea how long it had been hacked. Hopefully not TOO long!

I have some really great ideas for posts to put up in the future I just have to find the time to do them. Between surfing wedding blogs, e-mailing, checking up on all my dailies… in the very little amount of time I have free each day it’s really hard. I just need to get back into it! I miss blogging so much!

PS: Anyone ever tried a Gocco before? It’s Japanese, but it creates the most beautiful printed paper goods EVER! I think this will be my first “big” wedding purchase. But it’s also something I can use (even if having to wipe the dust from it once a year to use) after the wedding. I first heard about it on WeddingBee (my new fave wedding blog) and instantly fell in love

Okay, the birthday has finally passed. So much has gone on in the past few weeks and I am so sorry that things have been absolutely dead lately. I’m finally back and I’m sure I’ve lost all of my readers but I promise things will be back to normal!

So, what’s changed, you ask?

I’M ENGAGED!!!!

Yes, it finally happened! He FINALLY asked me! As I mentioned in my last entry, my birthday was on the 18th and it was absolutely fantastic, minus one little thing. No ring. It was the only thing I asked for… literally and I didnt get it. I so much as threw a fit at Greg because i wanted it it sooo badly. I was selfish. Thank god I waited and he was patient with me because on May 22, 2008 he asked me to marry him!

We were at dinner, for what I thought was for his step-dad’s work training of two months departure, eating. I was so dressed down. It was my day off, I had NO makeup on, I had the most casual outfit on, my hair was greasy and thrown up into a hat. It was just perfect. We ate our dinner (mexican food!) and ordered desert - sopapillas! YUM!

When the sopapillas came out, the manager brought one plate for the table and one plate with a HUGE one for me. I was confused and suddenly appeared a plate with my desert that said, “Will you marry me?” in chocolate writing! After pointing out the fact that I thought we were there under different terms, and asking “ARE YOU SERIOUS?! RIGHT NOW?!!!” I accepted his proposal and we are now full fledged into wedding planning!

As you know, before the wedding I had minor details thought up and saved on our Tying the Knot page. But now, it’s just about setting ideas down on paper, finding the money, and going forward. Yesterday we (yes, we… are you impressed!) spent the day working on mock-up invitations. I’ll be DIYing ALL of the paper products for the wedding since I have such a great passion for graphic design.

Yay, right?! YAY! So, some of the subjects here will change and some will stay. More wedding talk will ensue as well as ideas and inspiration posts. Who else out there is planning a wedding? Anyone?

Now, I’m going to spend some time visiting my favorite bloggers and catching up! Expect some substance from me tonight, too!

I cannot for the life of me seem to catch up with things in life. Since the accident, I’ve been playing catch up with work, and at home.

My birthday is this weekend! We’re having a huge BBQ shindig-amajig and then going out afterwards, so naturally I’ve been preparing for that. It took me ALL day yesterday to clean my house. Which, I didn’t think it would take that long because I wanted to dedicate some time to you guys for blogging, but alas that didn’t get done. Then it took me all night to clean my pigstye of a room. I’m still not done, the majority of my problem is my clothes. and my HALF of a closet that has no room for all of my clothes. It’s sick how many black clothes i have for work! SICK! I’ll have to take a picture of my accessory wall, too, because it’s disgusting how many accessories I have!

I hope all is well in everyone’s side of town, I’m so sorry things have been really inactive here lately. As soon as my birthday is over and things wind down, I’ll be able to sit down and really write (which is what I miss most about blogging) and catch up on things. There’s been lots of drama in my life lately and I’m ready for it to all be gone!

Oh my gosh you guys! So I didn’t ever post about my AMAZING find on eBay this week. 
So, in preparation for my stimulus check to come (HI! IT’S A WEEK LATE AND IT STILL HASN’T COME, ANYONE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM?) I  went on a search for an iMac for a good deal online because my computer is *thisclose* to dying.

So this week I found a Generation 4 iMac on ebay for $259!!! Can you believe that! Plus, it only cost me around $40 to upgrade all of the software and such so it’ll run like a brand new iMac! I am so excited. It came today, in all it’s glory. So pretty and nice. The coolest thing? The screen is a swivel screen. Which I knew, but I’d never seen it in person. OMG. it’s so cool!!!

Anyone else out there Apple users? Can you give me any hints or tips?
I’m going to try and rebuild/reformat my laptop and hand it on down to my boyfriend because I’m so sick of it! All he’ll use it for is music, so woo!

I’ll have detailed reviews of the last few collections to come out at MAC this week or next sometime. I’m excited to show you pictures from our Naughty Nauticals event this weekend. It’s been super fun.  

Wow. I am SO SORRY! It has been weeks since I’ve updated this blog! SHAME ON ME! So, short update on what I’ve been up to.

• Heavy Wedding “Planning” - meaning, just scouring wedding websites gathering inspiration. See the progress on my Tying the Knot page!
• Minor car accident. Minor whiplash, huge headaches. No damage to either cars.
• I just got word that a friend’s brother is having baby! *sigh* I want a baby!
• My goal this week is to write write write. And then write some more. I have so many ideas and they’re bottled up in my head!
• I’ve created a food diary and am trying to figure out how to track this whole “healthy track” on the blog in the right way.

Anything major happening in anyone’s lives right now? I’ll catch up on everyone’s blogging this week as well! Again, I appologize for it being so long since I’ve even posted. Shame on me!
